Scrapbooks
I started scrapbooking about 8 years ago. And like most newbie’s, my first scrapbook was a chronological album
of my first born son Patrick. As I look back at it, my style has changed and evolved, but it is a treasure.
However, I stopped creating the scrapbook around Patrick’s age 12! (He was 20 when I started the book). I quickly
discovered I was missing today’s experiences and stories because I was focused on recreating the past. So I started
mini-books or theme scrapbooks. Those were stories I wanted to tell, and created a lot of them- like 10 things I
love about my son Zachary. But again, I felt I was missing something. The best solution for me is to do both- mini-
or topical scrapbooks and everyday life pages. I have a 12x12 3 ring binder system. I create a scrapbook page every
few days, or to remember something that just happened and insert it into the scrapbook. Sometimes I find old
pictures and feel moved to tell the story looking back and create a scrapbook page and insert it into the same
scarpbook album.
NOW I know how important it is to document our everyday life. I wonder as I look at pictures
of my family and ancestors- who were they? What did they think about? What were their dreams? This became very real
to me when a few years ago, I was given a very plain brown box from my Aunt. Inside were pictures and memorabilia
of my great-grandparents, my grandmother and my grandfather’s family. It is difficult to scrapbook these treasures
because I don’t know the answers to those questions. This is why I focus on the importance of scrapbooking everyday
life for my family. I want to capture all our events, our feelings and the silly parts of our everyday life. I pray
they will never have any unanswered questions like I do about my family.
So is a scrapbook a photo album? Well, yes and no. Unlike a photo album that simply displays pictures,
scrapbooks go above and beyond: scrapbooks include photos, journal entries, memorabilia, drawings, beautiful paper
designs, stamping, embellishments, fibers, and so much more. If you are already a scrapbooker, Adore HIM Creations
challenges you to merge your faith with scrapbooking, card making, stamping and journaling. Maybe God has whispered
to you about your children, your family, your job. Document those whispers- maybe a bible verse has come to your
mind when you look at pictures from your vacation. Jot it down on a sticky note and attach to the picture, so that
when you scrapbook that photo, you will already have the journaling!
Sounds good, but how do you do it? Start simple.
- Add scriptures that are meaningful to you or the person in the picture.

The inspiration for this scrapbook page was a day together with my oldest son. After difficult teen years, he is
now a young man who has found himself and is becoming a man of God. I am so proud of him and the bible verse say's
it all: "And a voice came from heaven, you are my son whom I love, with you I am well pleased."
- Create a page about how you feel about your faith.

- Create a mini book about a song or topic. How about grace?
"Amazing Grace" is one of my favorite songs, and is so inspiring that I created this mini scrapbook to remember
HIS grace has saved me and broken my chains. The slide shows the completed scrapbook. Amazing Grace is available as
a digikit too.
